We are a family/friend/boarder run boutique board manufacturer started in a garage in Salt Lake City, UT. As the early handcrafted "garage boards" gained a strong local following, board-crafter Maximilian Losee decided to form a small company- coming up with the über creative name of "Losee Longboards." (While our name may lack creativity, surely we make up for it with our products...)
After spending much time acquiring the necessary resources, know-how and experience, we've found unique ways to produce more boards without sacrificing quality standards. Each board that goes out is treated with the same care and attention that the first "garage boards" had. All boards are made in the US of A and are engraved, hand-finished, assembled and inspected in Little Cottonwood Canyon, UT.
Our mission is to bring you boards that bridge the gap between form and function. You'll find that our boards perform very well, last long and will turn a lot of heads. Our laser-engraved graphics are like none other and our customization options will make your ride even more rad.
We strive to fight the negative connotations that the word "business" may have by keeping our operation as personal as possible. Never hesitate to contact us to chat about our boards, give us suggestions, ask for advice... ya'll got a new friend in the skateboard world.
If you've ever carved down a hill or cruised on a boardwalk in the evening, wind on your face, concrete rushing by, you'll know what we mean when we say that:
How Losee Makes Longboards
Losee Longboards is always looking for new ways to make boards. Between our fiberlam, drop-through technology, and laser engraving, we're always trying to do things just a little differently. As we focus on ways to make better boards, we remain conscious about our impact on the environment. Whether we're planting trees for the sale of certain boards or simply reusing the grip-tape backing as packaging material, sustainability is an important part of our operation.
Here's some insight to the process and materials used in making our boards:
Wood: We press all of our decks with various combinations of birch, maple and bamboo woods.
Shapes: All shapes are hand drawn and tested. Once a prototype is approved, the decks are pressed (to get the desired concave, camber, kicktail/nose) and then cut out with a precision CNC machine.
Fiberlam: Our performance boards are sandwiched with a fiberglass laminate that increases strength without adding significant weight or thickness. The fiberlam adds rigidity to the decks and gives them a unique look and texture.
Drop-through technology: At Losee Longboards, we've taken the proved drop-though mounting technique to the next level. The idea behind the drop-through mount is to get the board lower to the ground to lower your center of gravity and make the board more stable at speeds. With the invention of the Losee Droppers, we can get our drop-though boards an extra 1/2 inch lower than other boards. This, in addition to our "zero wheel-bite" drop-through shapes, allow you to use wheels up to 97mm tall without feeling too high off the ground or having to worry about catching a wheel when laying down a turn.
Laser engraving: Perhaps the most distinct aspect of our boards is the laser engraved graphics. The laser engraving process requires a substantial amount of time per board as material is actually carved from the board pixel by pixel. The result is a permanent graphic that you can actually feel the texture of. All custom graphic boards are done this way. It's something you have to see to believe.
Trucks: We use reverse kingpin trucks for all of our completes from proven truck companies such as Randall, Gullwing and Paris.
Bearings: All bearings used on completes are abec-7 rated and made in the U.S. They are capped with either Delrin or stainless steel retainers.
Wheels: Losee Longboards wheels are made 100% in the U.S. out of high-grade urethane. Other wheels that we sell on our completes are the renowned Abec11/ Retro wheels.
Hardwear: We use alloy socket head screws on all of our boards to protect from stripping.
